Gwinnett gives a cluck!

Bad neighbors suck. If he had a rooster in a neighborhood he was stupid. If he did nothing when asked to fix it he's a sphincter. The hens were no violation of anyone's rights. I don't know of any urban ordinances that allow roosters.
These things have to be considered on case by case basis. My only point is that there is another side to these situations.

i am in Hall co and i have 7 chickens and my neighbor has 12. neither of us have rooster's. i also have a nice garden in my yard. no one has said a word other than someone asking us about planting some of her stuff in our unused space in the garden. glad they are letting you have them now though. man i love fresh egg's. so much better than the store crap.

Pets. Lol

I had a feeling you were not familiar with Backyard Chickens due to your overall disapproval of them. You can ask many of millions of Americans currently in the Backyard Chicken hobby. If they had 400 they would be livestock. When you have between 2 and 4 chickens they are pets. Also please let my 15 month old daughter know that the chickens that she squeals each morning when she sees them in the yard and waves excitedly at them that they are only a nuisance livestock and not her "pets".

???? It's obvious you've never had any but yes they are pets for many people. Ask my 12 year old if they are any less his pets than the dogs. What makes a pet?
You just reminded me if the Simpsons episode where Homer had the pet lobster named 'Pinchey". He accidently killed Pinchy in a hot bath and cried while eating him for dinner.

Seriously these are our first birds and I now get why they are so popular and yes pets for some. It's a blast and a cool learning experience.

Just last week a woman asked if you could really eat turkey and duck eggs. Her mind was blown that turkeys and ducks actually lay eggs that are edible. This is why we have chickens. My daughter will never say something this stupid in public.

we love our chickens. they have become our pets and all of them have chicken names.. mac, sesame, nugget, billie, terry {teriyaki}, and kp {Kung pow}. although Billie is named after Billie Holiday.. lol my kids have a blast watching them running around and pecking at bugs, and they also let you pet them.

Crate train em and keep em inside and I'll grant them pet status. ;)

Seriously though, pets vs nuisance is subjective. Nothing about the animal changes just because you consider it a pet. That chick on Game of Thrones thinks her dragons are her children. I'd be calling the county on her too.
