Ohhh ok. I didn’t know that. How much you think that set up would cost? You can talk all over the world using just a few watts of transmitting power. The key is having a VERY GOOD Antenna.

I've been in the store. It seems to have a lot of stuff. Is the Ham Radio Outlet worth the drive from Kennesaw once I'm licensed and ready to buy a small, budget friendly home setup? I'll be buying blind, with only my knowledge from the ol' interwebs.
I bought my last transceiver there and they had a very good price. Got the power supply and a new antenna tuner at the same time. They had a great selection, good prices and were knowledgeable about every piece of gear in the store, including the used gear. They have a web site and you can shop there to get an idea of what you might be looking for.I've been in the store. It seems to have a lot of stuff.
I didn't buy anything, just looking around.
OP, here's a link to a local club that might be useful. https://wr4mg.us/Any ham radio guys around? Just wondering if there are any local ham operators around. I’m not a ham operator currently but considering purchasing a small unit. Any one have one for sale, or any advice for someone wanting to get started? I know I would need to get a license, but would like to get one to start understanding how it works and listening at least. Thanks.
