Handgun hunting anyone?

I really enjoy handgun hunting. I've done the majority of it with my G20, It just has a way of putting a big smile on my face!

I think I am gonna try my luck at some handgun hunting this year. I haven't been out in the past few seasons but I am definitely going to make it out this year.

We should get a friendly little Glock hunting competition going on here. See how many people we can get together, that woud be interesting to me. No real prizes, just title of winning it and for fun. Would you guys be game for it?

I'd be down with that. Nothing like a little friendly competition.

Absolutely !
I think that's a great idea. We should probably set up some categories like..
Biggest Buck by rack size
Biggest Buck by weight
Biggest Doe
# of Does
???

What do you think?

We can do it however you guys want. I just hope I can get out a good bit, the freezer has been empty a while and I want to get three this year if at all possible. Between college full time, doing a study for the DNR on the side, and having a girlfriend that lives 2 hrs away doesn't leave me much free hunting time...lol...But I have to make time this year.

Oh and I will be hunting with a 10mm as well out of my 21sf. I want a new lone wolf barrel to shoot lead out of so I figured I might as well get the 10mm barrel anyways. I figured that with some of those double tap 10mm 230gr cast bullets coming out at 1120fps will put a hurt on anything that walks in North America.

On a side note, I loved my 21 Sf so much I went ahead and got a 30sf for carry. I was carrying my 21 everywhere fine, but with some of my tighter clothes it stuck out like crazy.

I'm right there with you, less the 2 hours and DNR study! Haha

Going with the 10, nice! I've shot quite a few hogs and 1 deer with the DT 230 Hardcasts. They perform well but I've gone back to a bonded core bullet in the 180 or 200 weight.

Speaking of Double Tap Ammo, I've been a big fan and shot more than a few of their 10mm offerings and haven't had any problems. They are definitely in the power class of 10mm ammo but I recently saw some chrono numbers that suggests they may be going a little overboard with their FPS numbers. In most cases, by a pretty good bit. It's not a deal breaker for me but I'm going to stray a bit and try out another option.
One of the alternative's I found was Underwood Ammo. I've never shot any of their stuff but I'm going to before deer season.

I have a 29 for the same reason you got your 30. I like carrying my 27 during the hot months though.

I'm not going to have all that much time in the woods either. I work between 55-65 hours per week so my schedule is pretty much full but I'm gonna make it a point to get out at least two days a week. So between the three of us we should be pretty evenly matched. I'm down for the different categories or whatever you guys decide on.

Here's my critter getter. Ruger Redhawk 41 mag. I've killed 2 deer with it and several hogs. Hope to get a coyote with it soon if I can just do some daylight predator hunting. Its just so much cooler at night.
