What grade steel is it?

Does it have a compass in the base of the handle?

If not, it's a knock-off.

That's why the handle is aluminum. To not throw off the compass.
It does indeed have a compass...and it does indeed work. :nerd:

Handle is currently packed with dryer lint, fishing kit, and water proof matches and a lighter. Imma fittn'a survive, y'all.

Those things have been around forever, I used one in survival training just to see how well it would do. The blade snapped off immediately. I ended up having to use my Kabar
Yeah, I imagine that any level of batonning will KB it...but I found this one guy's video and he seems to beat it up pretty good and it stays together.

I’ve had a couple for many many years. The tang is super short, less than an inch and pressure fit into the aluminum handle. As large knives go, that a high stress joint.
I'm very aware. I had it apart within the first three minutes of being home.

If you really baby the thing meaning don’t use it, it’ll hold up. Even moderate use that joint will eventually snap, jb weld or no
I don't know, man. Old boy in the vidja I just posted seemed to whoop on it pretty good and it held up. Plus I gooped up the set screw with JB weld, too. So - in my uneducated mind - I just welded the whole thing together to basically make it a full tang, hollow handle. Right? :nerd:

NEVER underestimate the power of JB weld!
