Never buy a cage trap with a door that won't self unlock if rolled on it's top. Those are what I used when I did animal control work. If I caught a non target species I could roll the trap over and the when the rings slide down the animal can cause the door to fall open like a draw bridge. This is the link to the traps I used and still have. Very strong, never had an animal damage one and the adult Midwest coon is much larger that the Georgia strain.

my eldest son lives in Lula and is having a problem with raccoons getting in carport after stored food, and messin with his chickens. so he buys a trap, sets it, catches the masked bandit and then......his real problem, getting really pissed off critter out of trap. Suggestions???

Set out a cup and a half (12 oz) of small-pellet dried dogfood next to a bowl of fresh water (for him to wash his front paws) and he’ll prolly stop getting into your stuff. Beware, you might gain a friend

If you don't wanna shoot it just open the door it will run out. You shouldn't carry it miles away to be someone elses' problem or possibly spread what it's carrying. Same with cats.
