Good advice. Never say anything in an email based on emotion. EVER. Type what you want and save it for 24hrs. Then review, edit or delete. Stop all credit cards she might remotely have access, even ones that are not joint but she knows the info, she can clean you out and not be held liable. Get new cards with different numbers. I have a relative just retired with 30 years service as an 0-6 (Col. US Army). His wife just cleaned him out for roughly 90K. Protect yourself. Treat every account you have as if it has been stolen. Do it quick, be fair but protect yourself.

Very good advice. Back in the day when there were movie rentals, I made sure to cancel the Blockbuster movie rental account on top of everything else. Just mentioning that as a reminder to not forget the little items. On top of saving emails, save all of your voicemail conversations with her. Again, stay level headed and calm any time you talk to her. As mentioned earlier in the post, keeping a voice recorder at all times might be to your advantage. Whatever you do, keep calm and let her look like the raging idiot. Talk to your attorney about the best way to remove your guns from the property and store them. You want a way to prove that they are secured and not accessible so she can never say that you threatened her with one of them. Best of luck getting through this. It is a PITA right now, but will bring new peace into your life later.

Do a Credit Freeze on all credit bureaus and close any joint credit accounts today.
The advice on switching guns that you carry is good but I would take all guns out of the house and not carry just so she can not ever claim you threatened her.
Never be alone with her. If you are around her always have a video camera.
If you need to communicate with her do so through your attorney, that's what you are paying (him/Her).

Cancel and change all credit and debt cards. Have the new ones mailed to your work place or other safe place.

I would change the locks and install video cameras. Keep a recording device on you at all times.

Remove any weapons, ammo as well as personal belongings of yours, rent a storage room, in your name, don't try and hide it.

Watch anything you say anywhere, to anyone. You really shouldn't be talking about it until after the procedure.

Don't date or party for at least 30days.

Lawyer up and let them talk for you. Become stoic.

Hey, FH, your relative Col would not be RF would he? My friend who is also a Col. and will be retiring in a few months had the same thing happen to him, but while the divorce is awaiting his retirement for financial reasons and insurance, etc. his wife cleaned out their bank accounts one weekend 2 years or so ago with no hint it was about to happen!!.

Something is going on your not aware of or your leaving out some important information here, not sure how she got the papers rushed and court appearance time set so fast but NORMALLY you have (30) days from the MOMENT you sign the civil papers the deputy served you with to appear in court (usually the deputy notes the time to appear on the paper after you sign), which gives you time to hire legal representation. Anyone tampering with the system will piss-off a Judge big time and that party will pay dearly. Good Luck.

If GA is like most other states since SHE abandoned the marital residence she is pretty much SOL. Hold fast and do NOT let her move back in. If you have to get a TRO for some reason and keep her away.
