ODTers, looking for some help swapping out my old thermostat for a new one. The old one was a Honeywell which had batteries and the new one is supplied from thermostat.
Here is a picture of the old thermostat, 4 wires.
The new one needs a control wire, and it looks like when the house was built (1992) they left a second wire in the wall with a red and white wire. I hooked the colored wires to the same connections:
And I hooked the white wire to the 24V C connector because this is how in looked in my Trane furnace:
I notice the red wire from going to the Y post on this end (?) and the control wire is the white one.
New thermostat doesn't power up. Any suggestions before I have to call the HVAC guy?
