Help Smith and Wesson

Ok, so I was always a fan of Glock style guns, but recently got a hold of two Smith and Wesson revolvers. Can some help me determine the model of these two?

Open the cylinder. The number should be engraved in the "crane" I think it's called. But that sure does look like a 686. Or send Mikey357 a PM. Dude knows his S&W revolvers...
 
OP, I have shot the M617, a really nice shooting .22. I think the full lug looks great. Congrats!

Revolver and dial1911, you gave OP some good information. BTW, crane or yoke, doesn't matter, you got the point across.

Not really a fan of revolvers, but yes this M617 does handle pretty well. It is a great gun and will make a Great addition to my collection.
