I've been in redwings 20 + years. I enjoy them.
Thorogood Boots are by far the most comfortable that I have worn straight out of the box. I have been wearing the same pair for almost 3 years now. Made in the USA also, versus most of the other brands recommended in this thread.
I worn steel toe boots for 37 years and Redwings have been the best fit and wear longer than any others I have had
Have you seen the workers we produce lately.....go ask a walmart employee for help...
Employees at Wal-Mart don't make anything the last time I checked. They sell China made products, which makes them angry and sad.
Neither do the workers making your American boots, And the workers make it my Chinese boots.... But they're still in American doing quality control with the red wings.
I've been wearing Timberland Pros for 4 or 5 years now. They are comfortable right out of the box to me, no break in required.
If you buy from Zappos.com, be aware that they would not take back shoes/boots that have been worn. So wear them inside the house long enough to make sure they are keepers.
