Here’s my story

The question wasn’t posed here on ODT, it started on Facebook. At this point I do not know where all folks have spread it to, so at the behest of a well-known and respected Instructor, I wrote the above post and posted it on the sites I frequent.

Were you ever assigned the secondary mos for scout sniper and can you provide proof to the naysayers?
If so, despite the round about training to get there I don't see what the big deal is.
If not.....well, you know how that works.

My SRB shows that I successfully completed the SSCB, but my DD214 does not show the additional MOS.

You can get that fixed. It will take time and patience but they fix their stupid mistakes every day. I can inquire here on Fort Gordon if you would like. I'm sure I can at least track down the right people to talk to.

Well then who gives a flying ****!

Sometimes things just don't make it to the DD214, and while there is a process to fix it most of us don't care enough to go through the hassle of getting it done. I am airborne qualified, had the "P" Special Qualification Identifier attached to my MOS on my DD214, served in the 82nd, got jump pay, have my FB (USAIS) form 99 (Airborne Graduation Certificate) framed and hanging on a wall...BUT that same DD214 shows no record of me attending airborne school. I happens...who cares. I can certainly justify my jump status to anybody who cares to inquire about, and it sounds like you can do the same with your scout/sniper qualification.

Drive on my friend, drive on!

EDIT TO ADD, Dec 7, 2017: I no longer stand behind the above statement. In truth, I made it before doing the due diligence of looking further into an incident like this one requires. That's my fault. It's not a knock of Shep, this is his situation to resolve in any way he sees fit, not mine. I didn't delete the previous post because I thought that would look like chicken ****, and did not create a new post because I have no interest in bumping this thread. I stand behind post #50, and would reiterate that I think Shep has done the right thing to move forward in resolving this incident and wish him the best in his future endeavors.
