Did another test. Amazon sold me a Cell booster they did not have in stock. So this was hot spot, to router to PC
I will keep the order open for the hot spot, to reserve the price.

I will look at my hot spot tonight and let you know. I would test with a Sprint phone and WiFi measuring app, like OpenSignal. It would give real Download and Upload speeds in your location. My intended place of use shows I'm just outside a bright yellow zone, slightly in the no coverage zone. I'm still curious though. If I can find a friend with a Sprint phone, what indication am I looking for to get a prediction of whether or not this will work?
I've read that the number of bars is not an accurate indication so if I go into phone status, what would be a good range of "dBm" to be in that would predict a likelihood of success?
Yep. But there has to be a signal to begin with.Cell Booster does just that, gets a better signal than your hot spot and allows for a better condition.
I have had mixed success with them, sometimes a greatly better signal, and sometimes not.
Network setting? I had the 2.4 ghz turned on, 5 ghz off. LTE plus any higher level service as option. I had a dismal .46 up and less than 4 down. I might try a cell booster. My secretary lives right at the edge of service for local cellular so she's considering trying one too at home.Yep. But there has to be a signal to begin with.
palmettomoon when you did your tests, did you look at the Network setting on the hotspot? I had acceptable (not great) speeds with only 10% signal strength.
I will type out the steps tonight to look a the Networkk strength. IIRC, it is Settings>Network Status (2nd on the list). It gives the connection info, including signal in dB and %.Network setting? Oh, that. Yes, I checked all over the house and outside too. Never really got above 10%.I will type out the steps tonight to look a the Networkk strength. IIRC, it is Settings>Network Status (2nd on the list). It gives the connection info, including signal in dB and %.
Also, test with the hot spot laying flat on the window sil, on the side closest to the Sprint tower. I get 40% by the window, 10% 4 feet away on the computer desk.
