My mailbox should get fair reception. Where we would actually setup further onto the property, seems to be no service, by Sprint's data map.

Get a Trackfone SIM kit. It has Sims from multiple carriers in it. Pop in, un-activated, Sprint SIM in your GSM phone and see what strength signal you have. $10 in WallMart

I live on the edge of the Windstream service area. Everyone hates it. I've never heard a good word about it.

Friend of mine has to use it for business - carrier pigeons would be a better option. She's in real estate, all the documents are emailed - if Windstream doesn't time out, it takes several minutes to transmit a normal closing package.

Windstream - farting and pissing on you.

It makes me wonder if the towers around me will be overwhelmed.
(If enough people dump the "I could piss faster" service)
It is slow during peak hours. I need to mount my antenna better and maybe upgrade from the basic one that came with the booster.

We tried satellite internet. It's, well, horrible.

Just got a Verizon Jetpack in last week while I was out of town. We have multiple Verizon towers within 5-10 miles of the house. Service is exceptional even without time to optimize it yet. Not too thrilled about only 10GB of 4G LTE but Dish only lets you have 5GB of data a month, and it's nowhere even near 2G speed from my experience. Costing me $80 a month but it's worth it for what I do, and from what I read I should be able to move my phone over to save money if I decide to keep the service.

There's an application for phones: OpenSignal. Download it and it will tell you locations of cell towers in your area along with provider.

My other option is simply to boost my cell signal inside the house, and use VZ only as my data source.
