Home internet / WiFi hotspots - 4G Community

If i could do it all over again, I would try to find a WiFi to Ethernet adapter that worked in 5GHz range, not 2.4. Hot spot can broadcast on either one, or both. I have 5 GHz turned off, but it still reserves 1 out of 10 available Connected devices spots. There 8s no way to assign all 10 spot to ONLY 2.4 or ONLY 5. If adapter worked in 5Ghz then it would get the cleanest possinle signal to send to the reat of my network, without fighting with other devices for a signal.

How about plug it in to one of your devices, that one will direct connect via wired connection, and it will still broadcast to 10 other devices.

Hot spot has a MicroUSB out. I am looking for a compatible MicroUSB to Ethernet adapter to plug it directly into the switch. There is no other hardwired output.
Hot spot only allows 9 devices max to be connected to any one frequency. I cannot set "0" for 5GHz and "10" for 2.4. That input is not accepted. It has to be 1and 9, max. I may try to log in into web interface on the hotspot and try it there.

I may not have the same hotspot as you, but the micro USB is where I plug the charging cord. A micro USB to standard USB cord plugs right into my computer, charges the hotspot, and makes an ethernet connection via the USB port.

That will work, but it means I would need to leave a PC on at all times. Signal would go to PC via USB and then out via PC ethernet port. I would need to share that PC's connection. Unfortunately, the best spot for the cell phone signal is literally on the other side of my bedside table. I am not ready to revert to my bachelor days and set up a full PC by my bed. Future Mrs Jeddak might not approve. :D I need to keep it semi presentable.

How accurate is their coverage map? I'm most concerned with coverage at my cabin. Their map says it's "best" (solid yellow) all around my cabin but I'm VERY skeptical of that. No phone, no service provider, has EVER provided even remotely adequate voice service much less data.

Order a kit. You have a week to evaluate it. I put my kit thru a work out before I decided to keep it.
Also, data and voice coverage do not neccessarily overlap 100%.

The hotspot is portable. If you were on the south side, I'd bring mine and you could see on the spot.

If you have a 70 series Colt 1911 for sale, I'll be there in a few hours. :thumb:
