Hope this isn't your pit bull loving grandma!

  • 31 U.S. dog bite-related fatalities occurred in 2016. Despite being regulated in Military Housing areas and over 900 U.S. cities, pit bulls contributed to 71% (22) of these deaths. Pit bulls make up about 6% of the total U.S. dog population.
I think this says a lot.
Not when the dog is misidentified as a pit bull 83% of the time.

"Pit Bull Types
Owners of pit bull-type dogs deal with a strong breed stigma,44 however controlled studies have not identified this breed group as disproportionately dangerous. The pit bull type is particularly ambiguous as a "breed" encompassing a range of pedigree breeds, informal types and appearances that cannot be reliably identified. Visual determination of dog breed is known to not always be reliable.45 And witnesses may be predisposed to assume that a vicious dog is of this type.

It should also be considered that the incidence of pit bull-type dogs' involvement in severe and fatal attacks may represent high prevalence in neighborhoods that present high risk to the young children who are the most common victim of severe or fatal attacks. And as owners of stigmatized breeds are more likely to have involvement in criminal and/or violent acts46—breed correlations may have the owner's behavior as the underlying causal factor."

"Given that breed is a poor sole predictor of aggressiveness and pit bull-type dogs are not implicated in controlled studies it is difficult to support the targeting of this breed as a basis for dog bite prevention."

Same study.

If anyone thinks that the AVMA, or a dog trainer for that matter, would be bias in favor of an aggressive breed of dog, they are out of their damn mind. Who do you think has to deal with that aggressive dog? Veterinarians and trainers are a good start to that list and I can guarantee you that none of us likes getting bit.

So the victims that are reported dead are fake?
The stats are fake. If you check your sources from your quote above you'll see that dogbites.org gets its stats from news reports and classifieds listings. Hardly scientific.

Yes, pitbulls like many other medium to large breed dogs are capable and have killed people. But if you want to prove that as a breed, the American Pit Bull Terrier is inherently aggressive towards humans you're gonna need actual scientific data. Not news reports and classifieds.

Actual scientific testing has been done, the American Pit Bull Terrier scores well above average in temperament testing.

When is the pay-per-view event? You know, the one where 2 pits are turned loose on granny so they can maul her to death.
I would pay to see that and she deserves it. Maybe even the parent

I'd rather trust some crazy lady who got bit by a dog while jogging one day and decided to make a website devoted to mass hysteria.
