Anyone used or using this load for deer? Range will be 100 yards or less. Shooters will be an 11 and 8 year old. Tell me about actually shooting a deer good or bad.

The .243 is more than adequate. I've shot a number if big Midwest bucks with it. Just pick a proper bullet, nothing for varmints. 95-100 grain, and appropriate construction.

I am asking about the Hornady 87 gr SST Lite load for kids. I have killed many with a .243 and 95 grain Fusion.
The 87 or 95gr SST are perfectly suited for medium sized game. The 87gr provides just under 1400 ft/lbs of energy at 100. That's enough, not a lot, but it's adequate.
