Hot Take: Chicken Wings kind of suck

IMG_0462.jpeg
I’ll put mine up against anyone’s. They’re an art.

I was stoked about trying the Anchor Bar… man, was I dissapointed! My local pub has way better wings than that place. And Buffalo was nasty in general anyways.

Can someone tell me why they are so popular? I could go the rest of my life and never eat them and not miss them. A guy I work with is borderline religious about "cold beer and hot wings." It's like a religious experience for him. I think it's another version of "ribs" for me. Everybody I know loves them, I can't be bothered. So, convince me...what's the deal with "wings?" :noidea:
I may be the only one who agrees with you. :second:

Y'all are some snobs.

My favorite meal is buffalo wings, hot/medium, & some fries with a cold beer.

I Got _respect_ for ordering that on the French Rivera, chicks were looking at me, jaws on the ground, recognizing an ATL _G_ who went out of his way to keep things real.

Hard to find decent wings anymore and it seems styles of preparation have changed a lot over the past 40 years.
Add to that the trend for restaurants buying smaller clips (Bidenflation) and sometimes they look like they are off of a Bantam chicken or pigeon.

Best I've ever had were the ".25 cents each w/beer or cocktail" during happy hour at O'Charley's in SC in the late 80's. Big, breaded, fried, sauced excellently, hot......just all around good chicken.

Nothing compares today. You can't throw a rock in Macon without hitting a wing shack or Chinese take-a-away but all of their wings suck. I mean suck bad.

Hell, Macon couldn't even keep a Hooter's open. It's been closed for months. Their wings have really gone downhill over the past two decades.
Last halfway good wings we had were smoked then fried by a young man named his restaurant Jamai's Place on 49. Shame he got robbed and shot multiple times. Mother ****ers tried to kill an honest working man. That's Macon.
