House destroyed by big tree

Profire in Cartersville specializes in this but it’s the insurance company that hire them. Giant pain in the ass unfortunately but first one to contact is the insurance company.

Get the insurance claim started and watch out for the scammer tree guys that follow storms like this. If he has a local insurance agent, frequently they'll have a list of reliable contractors that deal with stuff like that. Keep track of every little expense.
And may I add, keep notes on all names, dates, phone numbers and info for your records. Good luck to all. Thank the Lord the family was ok.

Anyone ever had to deal with a tree landing in your living room destroying your house? My brother just bought this house in May and is destroyed now. Any tips or advice dealing with this would be helpful as he is lost on what to do right now or company recommendations that deal with this mess.

Neighbors tree that fell into his house
I work with a company that has dealt with that many times. DM me if you want more info.

Sorry your brother got the damage, but I'm in for pics of this tree. We had a decent size one snap off midway up and miss the house and air handlers but take out the fence.

House two streets over from me got smashed a couple weeks ago

Huge huge tree fell on it .
They were home and thankfully were in the other end of the house ,

The front part is totally flattened .
I’m sure it totaled .

I’m guessing the ins co is gonna declare it a total loss and bulldoze it .

Which sucks cause it will take a year or more to fix it or replace it

Happened to us 10 years ago.

Insurance wouldn’t really tell us what to do, but they paid for what we thought we needed to do.

- Get a tree service to remove the tree.
- Get tarps up to protect what you can.
- Get a hotel for the night, & consider where you’ll want to stay while house is repaired. I think insurance would have paid for a hotel/extended stay, but we chose to start in the house during repair due to pets.
- Get in contact with a remediation company to deal with moisture/textile cleaning/etc.
- Get quotes from contractors.
- Document every single item damaged for the final insurance claim. The little things add up.
