How is the milsurp market these days?

How do you feel about buying a "reclaimed receiver" based M1 Garand?

Video says they have "tens of thousands" of them that will provide a supply for "some years to come." Guess the supply of surplus rifles is pretty well exhausted, so it's either a new CMP made M1 or a previous drill rifle that has been brought back.

Personally I'd probably be fine with a reclaimed rifle and keep the $800 difference (vs new) for ammo.

I’m not interested in a reclaimed rifle…..thankful that I have the ones I wanted. Prices are crazy…..

I'm not really looking at buying one either, but was just curious as to others thoughts on it.

If you DIDN'T have the ones you wanted, would you buy one then? Or would you just look on here for a field/service grade rifle?

The reclaimeds will probably sell well, as M1 demand still seems strong. Certainly agree they should be priced a bit lower than the standard rifles, but nobody asked me. :drum:

I would take a reclaimed original over a reproduction one, at least there is some history in the reclaimed one.
Yep.... I'm sure the new CMP M1s will be fine rifles, but they don't have any US Army or NATO ally history. Which is part of the fun of owning one. Especially if you have the US Army's history list on them. Can't get that with a new one.

If I didn't have what I wanted I'd still pass on the reclaimed rifles. They’re just not worth that kind if money to me.

Few m44s and type 38s for sub 400 bucks and have seen a couple 91/30 sub 300 bucks posted here. Some came with a couple hundred rounds too. $89 dollar days are long gone and sub 300 is about where they should be
