How many generations of the Glock 36?

Cost effectiveness maybe? Not sure...the G36 is the "oddball" with it being the only model with a slim, single stacked frame and is only able to use the G36 mags...all the other models are built to accept various magazine sizes and even caliber changes, by switching out barrels etc.

B/C all the other models were reproduced generation to generation. G36 was only made during that one generation. People keep asking Glock for another run, but nothing yet.

That's what I can't understand. Why would Glock start over from gen 1 when gen 3 or 4 was in production? It will stop me from trading because I want the upgraded springs and rail. The gen4 grips I can live without.

They didn't really 'go back'. i think the 36s were produced when everything else was in Gen 2, so there hadn't been a railed Glock yet. They just dropped the 36 when the Gen 3 runs started.

I just picked up a 36 that was built in Dec of 2012 and the recoil spring assembly is the newer version you see in the Gen 4 Glocks. It looks identical to my Gen 4 19's assembly (obviously the spring rates would be different).

I had a 36 a few years ago and the recoil spring assembly was different so perhaps they are including upgraded parts they just aren't advertising any changes and its not enough to be considered a "generation" change.

seriously? I've been told, even by Glock employees, that the 36 runs ended awhile back.

Thanks Tx. I would prefer the 45 but I also have a gen 4 Glock 23 so a look at the G27 gen 3 or 4 is a consideration. I've traded off all my 9's to try to keep ammo manageable. For some reason, 40's aren't as popular on here but I still like them and will always have 1 ... or 2.

If you want the .45, look at the G30, G30S if you can find it. You won't be disappointed.
