How many kWh do you use in the summer?

My house is about 2100 sq feet, two stories (on an unvented basement), with two A/C units. We run the bottom floor at about 71 during the day and top floor at about 74. At night we run the bottom floor at about 75 (which it never really hits) and the top floor goes to 64 (menopause is NOT cheap). We use Cobb Energy and our bill averages $300-$325. The house was built in 1989 so the insulation is what it is, btu we did have two new A/C units installed about 4 years ago and we run the NEST thermostats.

OP, have you asked them to do an energy audit on your house? Not sure now but it used to be a free service. Daughter rented a block house some years ago, the first bill was over $600. The landlord claimed it ran a couple hundred. Turned out his previous tenants had the same problem Free energy audit found numerous problems that the landlord knew about but hadn't fixed. Number one problem was a water heater leaking under the house. After repairs she was only looking at a couple hundred a month. (block house)

I don't think my T'stat would even go to 64...I'm just say'n
We(my family) used to go on trips with a bunch of friends to the beach in the summer...there was a T'stat battle, which generally ended up around 68-70....my daughter would bring her down comforter....I slept under anything I could find!!!

Cobb EMC

1321 kWh last month.
1471 kWh this month.

Payment due in August is $142.15.

House is 1934 square ft.

Keep the AC at 69°, 24/7. I hate the heat. Sometimes when the wife is at work, I'll bump it down to 68°.

Split foyer with finished full basement. We installed new fully insulated garage doors five years ago. Garage and workshop are almost as cool as the house. We're on our third AC unit in the last 26 years.

Yep, it cost a lot to play. But you have to have a lot to even consider it.....You have a happy family, rock on
Yes it does, but we are in the middle of nowhere with a few good friends and have tons of peace and quite. Nearest neighbors 700 yards away through the woods.

EMCs are always going to be cheaper... they buy their power in bulk (usually from GA Power around here) at a significant discount, and don't have to worry about supporting infrastructure (again, all provided by GA Power around here).

They can also shop around for cheap power, which is something GA Power (or any regulated utility) needs permission from the PSC to do.

About 2000 sf . Semi shaded. Keep house close to 78-80 down and 85/90 upstairs. Window unit in basement runs a good bit to help keep fermenting beers happy View attachment 7585424View attachment 7585424
Running temps that high upstairs can cause humidity problems and mold, just incase you're not aware. I have a few issues upstairs bc of this from the previous owner.
