How often do you reach for your nightstand gun?

About 6 months ago we woke up at 4 am because of some extremely heavy rain. We remembered our daughters power wheels was left out in the yard. We jumped up and went outside to find it. Finally located it and was soaking wet by the time we got it back to the carport. I was wide awake at that point and after changing clothes I went and sat down on the couch and started watching tv. About 4:45 I heard someone banging on the door like they were having an emergency. Mind you we live out in the woods with a 400 foot long driveway. I grabbed the gun and headed to the door but nobody was there. I text my neighbor and he said it wasn’t him. I checked all my cameras around the property and saw nothing. It woke my wife up on the other side of the house and my dogs were jumping on the door the banging came from. Needless to say it was unnerving.

Had a rollup garage door spring break one night and it sounded like someone was kicking in the door from the garage to the kitchen. Grabbed the 870, told the wife to grab her pistol and get in the bathroom then very slowly cleared inside and outside. Glad I don’t have bladder or sphincter issues.
Here too. It was different, the dogs didn't bark. They seemed confused, lol. A good turn around the house, outside, showed nothing. Only when trying to open the garage door did I find it. So, lesson learned.

No. I kind of don't want to know what was making that noise.

Three times so far.

Once in the middle of the night heard a loud boom. It was a broom that fell onto the washing machine and then the floor. Figured it was something like that so wasn't to afraid.

Second time I truly thought I was about to come face to face with another human. The adrenaline was pouring through my system. Because it was a series of bangs and booms and brought me and the wife out of a sound sleep. Turned out it was the little curtain rod above the kitchen sink gave way and knocked subsequent things off onto the floor.

Third was recent and a bit unique. I was inside after just getting home from work. Wife was due home any minute. Phone rings and its her. "Someone just pulled into our driveway after me and they have parked right behind me." I grab the pistol which is kept in a holster and stuff it into my waist and come outside in a hurry. Turned out to be...... Amazon struck again scaring a homeowner. They were in their personal sedan.

Lady who lived there before us went crazy and died in the house
I drove through the south Macon neighborhood where my grandparents pretty much raised me just to look around about a year or so ago. The house was exactly the same except the current owner had cut down every tree in the yard even the magnolia. So two guys were sitting out on the front porch and I pulled over along the side yard. One guy came walking over to the truck and I said " Hey is this your house now?" He said " Yeah since 99. Damn near paid for ." I told him it was my grandparents house and he must have bought it right after she died. We talked a few more minutes and I said " Yeah my grandfather died in the shower from his third heart attack back in 88. And my grandmother's boyfriend died laying on the couch in the den in 97. " That guy's eyes were wide open at this point. You know Democrats be superstitious as hell .
Well fast forward to last week. I was looking at WMAZ 13 news and saw a story about a shooting death in South Macon. So I looked and looked again. Then I expanded the screen and saw the Canterbury Rd street sign beside the ambulance. Turns out somebody got shot and killed in my grandmother's front yard. Odd part was it wasn't the owner or anyone living there.
But... that's Macon for you.
