How to find private land to shoot on?

I don't invite people to shoot anymore. In our overly litigious society there is just too much liability.
I guess you could create legal waivers but even then some sleezeball lawyer would find some way around it.
I wish it was like it used to be where you could just gather some like minded folks together for a day of shooting but those days are gone.

I've done it a few times. And with people from here I had never met. I was a little concerned but so far nobody has gotten shot. But I'm pretty easy going.

I shoot out in my backyard My advice is move to the country pass the city limit signs Live the good life Green Acres is the place you want to be Don't load up the truck and move to Beverly hills that ain't the place you wanna be
I do like the sound of that but I need to stay about 30 mins from downtown for work. I've looked into buying 5 acres or so with my buddy of the cheapest vacant land in cartersville but being young makes it a hard expense to justify.

Unless your lot backs up to the state forest or a lot of land with no houses, 5 acres isn’t going to be enough unless you want to stick to rim fire and pistol rounds, even then you will need a proper back stop. My 22 and 9mm rounds travel pretty damn far when I hear them ricochet. I recommend getting some suppressors as well, it makes it much much more enjoyable and neighbors don’t get all pissed off when their dogs are freaking out.

Get yourself a good rimfire can and some 22 hosts for you to scratch the shooting itch in your backyard between range visits.

Still happens sometimes in areas outside of Cook County, IL. I met some great people up there, country folks. We'd get together on farms and shoot all day (some fantastic farmland up there compared to most dirt scratching Georgia farms I've seen) then have a potluck supper inside a large metal or wooden barn set up with folding tables. All Yankees ain't bad people.

Land gets more expensive when you go north. Look west and south.
