Hunting Suppressed

I've heard a lot of folks shoot blanks at beavers these days??
Well, they can hear pretty good and they are not completely stupid. I’ve got such a bad reputation around here, many of the beavers dive when passing in front of my place on the lake. But they creep up in the yard at night, seems they like azaleas. Difficult targets with only their head exposed in the water.

No offense, but your original post actually shows you do not know what you are talking about. Which is fine, because you are asking questions, but I wouldn't be quick to point fingers. A subsonic .22 CM would indeed be virtually pointless.
Simply posted a picture, what if i had said 308 Win ? again i simply asked a few questions.

Different because a .308 win would be a way heavier projectile so larger surface area during impact to dump more energy from the larger mass of the bullet. A sub sonic .22 CM would just be a .22LR.

You can shoot a .22 CM with a can, just shoot at regular .22 CM velocities for its full benefit. You’ll get sound suppression at full velocity, just not the same sound suppression if you were shooting subs. I think .22 CM was a bad example because it kills on speed while traditional sub sonic rounds kill on bullet mass and quick / huge energy transfer due to sub bullet construction.

I have taken numerous hogs shooting suppressed 6.5 creedmoor supers. Sounded about like a 22 mag. I have tsken 1 deer suppressed with a 300 blackout. She didnt go far. I would shoot subs agsin without hesitation if the area was right. The blood trail was lackluster, but there was an exit wound

I like a good blood trail. It makes it easy. So I like a complete pass through so blood comes out both sides, hopefully. They bleed out faster with a good trail if needed

Making a bullet subsonic is purely a matter of velocity. Keep the bullet under the speed of sound, and it’s subsonic.

The amount of energy a bullet has is a matter of velocity and weight. Since all subsonic bullets are going roughly the same velocity, a larger caliber/heavier bullet has more energy.

A .22 Creedmoor subsonic, launching an 80grn bullet at 1,000fps, has a muzzle energy of 178 foot/pounds.

A .45/70 subsonic, launching a 713grn bullet at 1,000fps, has a muzzle energy of 1,583 foot/pounds.

This is why which caliber you’re attempting to use for subsonic hunting is critical. It’s also why calibers like 8.6 Blackout and .338 ARC exist. They do what the .300 Blackout does, but with a heavier bullet.

For those of you hunting with suppressed rifles.
Do you use subsonic ammo? No
Without the subsonic ammo what is the draw to hunting with suppressed rifles? I dont have to use hearing protection and I dont disturb my neighbors as much and the deer have no idea where a shot comes from and often they never move as suppressed shots are often confussed as coming from a different location.
Fierce firearms 22Creedmoor.
Are you handloading subsonic? No but I am interested in a recipe for 308 subs...
Which bullets are you loading?N/A
