Hurricane Idalia

It’s a category 4 storm now, which is not good. Sustained winds of 130 mph. Major hurricane equals major damage and flooding. Expected to be a category 2 when it hits Georgia and still a hurricane when it hits South Carolina.

Sitting here watching it rain. Remains of the eye supposed to come by around 8pm, just at high tide. Afraid some of those living on the marsh will be flooded by storm surge… again.
Houses in our neighborhood are all about 3 ft off the ground, neighbors said hurricane Matthew still had water damage a few, ours included.
Did all we could do, gassed up the cars, brought in the potted plants, checked on snowbird neighbors’ houses to make sure nothing was left outside that could become a windblown weapon.
Power’s already flickered a few times, and wind gusts have only been in the 20-30 mph range.
Wife’s a lifelong Atlanta girl, getting kinda antsy about sitting through her first storm.
Now it’s just watch and wait.

Grand daughter goes to school at Coastal College in Brunswick. Her first hurricane....
Hurricane parties are fun…

Looks like storm surge is going to be biggest problem. Eye of Idalia now looks like arrival will coincide with this evening’s high tide, which is already going to be elevated due to the super moon.
