Hydro Dipping?

you can do it in a big plastic tub as long as it will hold enough water to submerse the item at an angle.. lots of places sell the water transfer patterns and supplies.. under 200 easily

several places will sell you a one or two gun kit for around $60 up. Google DIY Hydro dipping

also some Utube videos on it

as noted you will screw up a few pieces depending upon how complex the part is. you have to learn to be smooth and a bit slow with the transfer process

I did a few rifle stocks in it but actually ended up preferring paint(durocoat and brownells aluma-hyde) and web spray for my hunting rifle synthetic stocks. I used camo patterns on the stocks so really you couldn't see the small imperfections.

believe if memory serves there is a web site forum dedicated to the process by one supplier..

go for it, just play with something you don't mind messing up to begin with.

There you go! thanks Jglenn. Sounds pretty doable if that's what you want. Just get some extra and practice on odd shaped items before you start on the gun parts.
