That's the way to start off, will be some happy grand parents Wish ya'll the best
First of all - CONGRATS!
As the father of twin boys I can tell you the first two years are pretty stout. Mine are currently 13. Fraternal, not identical.
So the first thing I will say is we had the nursery on the second floor expecting a natural birth and then she had to have a c section so the first night I had to rush home and move everything downstairs 'cause when they cut momma to get dem babies momma caint climb no stairs!
Second thing is that the two of you will have to tag-team dem babies. I had the 9-5 job so I did a bunch of night feedings with bottles. No worries, you can do that for about 7 weeks standing on your head.
At about the 8th week of them needing feedings/not sleeping through the night you start to get stupid tired. Like you're ready to put them up for adoption tired. Not really, but it's the hardest thing I've EVER had to do. We hired "Angels on Call" to help us out once, maybe twice, cause neither one of us was functionable.
But once they sleep through the night you are on easy street! Diapers are another thing. Thank heavens for Costco!
I have got to say to ODT and the WWW that having twins has been the absolute BEST thing I have ever experienced! I never knew how much love I had in my heart until I had my two boys...
You see, if we had just had one it would have REALLY been easy for momma to carry the baby. But since we had two I ALWAYS had one in my arms. You will BOND with your babies in a way you never would have if you only had a single.
Wrap 'em up tight at night. We used to use freezer tape on their bundles and that worked pretty good. About a year after that we saw where folks were making wraps with velcro. I'm sure they are millionaires because if a baby kicks out of his/her wrap, they will wake up crying in the middle of the night.
I'm sure I have forgotten a lot of the other things but feel free to PM me with questions.
And when they get older and there is a dispute - Rock/Paper/Scissors best two of three decides it. And if there's one cookie/piece of pie/whatever - one cuts and the other chooses...
Good luck!
Yeah and sleep while you can. They are are our first kids and I am just excited. Both babies are currently healthy. All I know to say is " goodbye all toys"
