Trying to remove the barrel from an IO PPS 43C in 9mm. Searched the web, followed the info found and removed the vertical pin that secures the barrel to the trunnion. Used a bit of wood and a hammer to drive the barrel back out of the trunnion.

Swore.

Soaked in Kroil for 2 days.

Used a bigger hammer.

Swore.

Tried a length of 1/4 threaded rod down the barrel. Used a socket on the breech end, (to give the barrel clearance to move back), locked nuts at the breech end, used a nut and washers at the muzzle to try to press the barrel out of the trunnion.

Swore.

Tensioned everything up. Applied a little heat the the visible part of the trunnion.

Swore.

Back to tightening, started to strip the threaded rod, gave up in disgust.

Any thoughts anyone ? It's supposed to be a modest press fit.

PPS in 9mm, cool gun. Is this a parts build? I would use a press, I got a 40 ton press that used to struggle with getting old AK barrels out of the trunnions. When they finally came apart they would pop. Almost like they had been in there so long they have been welded together. Heat up the trunion and apply pressure with a press.
