A year or so back it seemed like everyone and their brother were collecting, trading or looking for Benchmade Knives...

I am seeing quite a few less recently...
What has changed in the market...

Thanks!

I do collect a lot of knives but Benchmade has completely lost it for about a year. Their newest Narrow series is over 500. For that much you can get into some custom and or semi custom knife companies. Bought a Adamas about about a year and a half ago. Very smooth knife but it will be my last Benchmade. Spyderco has also went up but not as much as Benchmade. Lately I have bought several Civivis. Those Chinese boys have upped their game in knife making. Unlike American knife companies that come out with new models once a year, Civivi seems to produce new models every month.

I was a Kershaw guy for years. Did all I ever needed done in a knife. Then I snagged a Benchmade for a great deal. Now I have several Benchmades and love them all and carry them daily (even have a few I'd like to sell or trade). BUT I wont be spending hundreds of bucks on another knife. The dollar to value drops off quick for me and Benchmade is about my limit.

Personal for me. My brother in-law carries one and has been talking it up to much for 10 or so years. It’s not jealousy, it’s get another one , we see that one every Family gathering. You’d have to be there. Nice collection .

So what is your impression of the Adamas? It feels really good in the hand.

For a larger knife it and the microtech msi are my favorites large folders.. The Benchmade is unbelievably smooth to open by the thumb stud or just pull on the lock and the blade swings open or close. Blade is dead on centered and when opened there is no blade wiggle

It does really feel well balanced, like nothing short of a high quality chef knife, its hard for me to justify actually carrying a knife this expensive... I have been carrying a ebay 20$ Kershaw for the past year it does everything I need it to do most days. I am adding another day knife (work related "box cutter"). To my pocket have yet to try out this combo, but it sure feels right. Not a defense carry, but a utility carry.

Heavy and bulky for an edc knife. I used to carry Benchmades. Spyderco knives are excellent for slicing and cutting in general, mostly slim and lightweight, perfect for edc. The Adamas was made for the Rangers and Infantry
