But that holds the same principle as a 55 year old buying a house that they know they cannot afford but they want it just because it is pretty....they will go into foreclosure in a few years and be in a less desirable home just as the people who choose a less lucrative major will be in a crappy job they had not hoped for. They both make a venture for their future that will risk their financial stability and will put them in a bind. It doesn't matter if you're 18 or 80....I'm going to venture out on a limb here and say that most haven't faced enough of the "real world" to make a wise decision on what degree to pursue. I still laugh at all those art, drama, dance, photography majors who had high aspirations to be in Nat Geo etc and are struggling to get by. You chose to express yourself but you want everything that comes with a more desirable degree? Ok....
I don't know if I want to be acting like I am 55 when I actually am....Sounds boring.
