I stopped buying guns for a year for this?!

Well again congrats. I am compressed and envious. The explaining the investment angle is where you'd lose most women and some men. It's just tough to get some people to realize that something as seemingly trivial as a serial number and production date makes ALL the difference in the world.

Right now my landlord is sweating a 70 Chevelle 454 that's for sale locally for $19,500. If it's the real thing that's a killer deal. Probably about $10K low. But he broke out the Old Car Values book and tried explaining the investment angle to his wife. Bad move. Sometimes you just gotta make the deal and take the heat.
I let mine know both times after the fact . Both deals were done before she knew how much I paid . Easier to deal with that way. What's done is done . Hey , I'm home. Oh I bought an Uzi today.

Somebody on here has the sig line of "Honey, I've had that gun a while now I swear." In the 90s I probably said that half a dozen times. I spent well over a thousand having a commander size 1911 built from the frame up with all Caspian parts. And that was with the gunsmith giving me the friend prices. When it was done I went "Damn, it's real nice but I could've bought a chromed desert Eagle for the same money." But I told my wife that it was a "Parts Bin" build.

Lol! Nice one! Just some parts someone threw in a bin. The bin was also sitting really close to the trash can, so you know...
Seriously! I had no idea building a frame up 1911 could be so costly. But I used the Caspian frame with the finger groove right beneath the trigger guard. Fat barrel with no bushing and full length guide rod. They tried to get me to go wide body double stack mags. and use Para mags. But that would have been more money. Plus I already had a series 80 and plenty of mags for it. But it all adds up quick. Like the alan head grip screws and checkered main spring housing and Novack rear sight. But it was the 90s and we all had money and credit. But now the car I'm driving didn't cost that much.

With normal guns that is an option. With machine guns not so much. . You can't just explain away why you went from eating steaks to a solid Roman noodle / peanut butter and jelly sandwich diet
