I once shot a 270 out of a 30_06. With the adrenalin of shooting at a deer I didn't really notice anything was wrong except for the fact that I missed. I'm sure the recoil was less than it should have been though.
I didn't even realize what had happened until I went to look at the spare rounds on my sling one day and discovered that the red tip rounds I had were 270
