ID this Bayonet?

Look at this Mauser rifle collector's page, and go down to about 3/4 of the way to the bottom of the page.
There are two pics of groups of Mauser bayonets, many that look just like yours.

On the other hand, it also looks like the Japanese "Type 30" rifle bayonet.

Yeah, this page shows some good pics of the Arisaka type 30 bayonet. Looks like a match. The button to release it from the rifle lug is slightly different from the Mauser button.

AirOpsMgr, thanks for the info. I want to look at the Krupp marking referenced in your link. I think the Jap marking looks a wee bit diff from the one one this piece. What I don't understand about the Jap blades in the Nambu link is, why did they use Arabic numerals on a Japanese bayonet? Just sayin'.

GaGunlawBooklet, I think it's the Type 30. The Mauser's have the ball at the end of the hook and this example doesn't. Also, the Mauser scabbard has the button that would be pushed thru a frog and the one I posted just has a squared off metal loop.

Thanks for the info.

It's Japanese, but I would only be guessing which rifle it belongs to.

Freedom, you nailed it, too. It's my step-son's. He's a big Mauser fan and I'm sure he thinks it's German. He'll be disappointed it's Jap.

Thanks for the input and I would have no idea what rifle it goes to.

At that length I believe it would be an early war type 99 bayonet. With the scabbard it would be worth around 80.00. The japs shortened the last ditch bayonets and removed the staking hook if memory serves me.
