Identity Theft/ Fraud

Have you filed a police report? If not, you should do this ASAP. Once the report is generated, it will get assigned to a detective/investigator who will then be able to help you.

Good advise. I would also carefully document everyone I spoke / speak with and what was said.. Also this is something that the local TV consumer lawyers love. Try contacting them.

I hate AT&T. My wife's IPAD account got hacked by.... you'll never guess AT&T. They gave my wifes data plan to another woman in North Carolina with the same name. They kept billing our credit card even though they knew the account wasn't hers. We had to contact the other party and both had to get to them on a conference call. They never did refund the 3 month's of service that got billed. They even fought it when the credit card issued us a refund.

At&T dosent care about your ID theft as long as they keep getting new accts opened and get paid. They can shut it down, they are giving you the run-around.

+2 on the notify the Clark Howard show comment.

Also, closing the barn door after the cow is gone, but put every recurring bill you own on an Amex card. Their fraud department is A-MAY-ZING. They notified ME of some quesionable charges last week and sent me a new card immediately. In the case of what you're dealing with, you call Amex, tell em what's going on, and they will actually work some of that fraud stuff FOR you.
