honestly when i carry i go out of my way to avoid all conflicts because i know that i am carrying a weapon and fight or a arguement can turn bad quickly if my weapon is seen or even a print of a gun on my waist it could prompt the other individual to retrieve a weapon or attack first its just a precaution i have always taken you should never willingly enter into a confrontation especially while carrying a gun ......jmo

Also, as has been mentioned, the court also expects a person to "de-escalate" potentially violent situations wherever possible... especially when having a weapon capable of deadly force.
As everyone on here who carries or has a firearm at hand should recognize, having a firearm is a great responsibility that should be taken very seriously.

There is no evidence that he murdered or assaulted that man. There is an eye witness that puts Zimmerman on the bottom of a hand to hand struggle. It may be ill-advised to confront a hoodlum but it is not illegal.

There is no way Zimmerman had his weapon drawn when he confronted that little angel. He has every right to address someone walking down the street. He was on the losing end of a fist fight before he drew and fired.

He should have stuck with "observe and report" but has the right to ask someone what business he has in his neighborhood in the middle of the night.
