Integrated comps the new tacticool toys on pistols?

Comps are cool for the range, I guess.

But I’ve always worried about shooting from close up or point blank, and the getting all the “blast” in my face and eyes.
I’ve heard that a good bit but several videos with training close range retention shooting with comps show it’s not really an issue 🤷‍♂️

I shot several of comped guns and really never noticed but that’s just what I saw from high end 1911’s that were comped.
Allthough they weren’t mine and only shot a mag or two out of them.

That was my initial thoughts. Now I've shot plenty of em, and own several. It's not an issue in the least.

I've never shot a factory comp, but the blast isn't noticeable on the PMM from retention or otherwise, and the recoil is basically non existent even with +P. Or maybe I'm full of **** and just trendy.

Done it, never noticed any issues. If anything it felt like the concussion was redirected at most. At an indoor range anyway.

What's wrong with a good comp? I'm definitely considering the new hellcat with one.
In my experience with built in comps, in a close quarter drill from the chest, in a simulation of not being able to press the gun forward, the “blast” moved my glasses and some unburnt gasses stung my forehead. Not real bad but made me think, what if it burnt my eye. It surprised me a good deal and made me think.

Other issue is the flash at night. Although it was not nearly as terrible as it was described in night fire qualification class.

I think I was using a G23 and another smaller gun, can’t remember which one.
