About 2 weeks ago I lost a Glock 26 mag loaded with Speer Gold Dot on my property while working around the house. I live on 10 acres and throughout the day had traveled over about 3 acres of it. I didn’t notice the loss until the day was done and decided to take a Quick Look for it, no joy, so I just wrote it off.

10 days later my wife found it while walking the dogs. In the interim it had rained around here about every day, sometimes light, sometimes heavy. The mag was wet when she handed it over.

2 days later I took the ammo to work and fired it on the range. All 12 rounds (G26 mag with a +2 extender) fired no problem.

But wait it gets better. The ammo was prior issued ammo that is replaced on a 24 month cycle. So it was probably 3 to 3.5 years old, having spent the majority of that time exposed to the prevailing climate outside.

Not an endorsement of branded ammo, magazine type or any kind of torture testing….just thought I would pass on the interesting results.

I had to self rescue my kayak while on the Ocmulgee a few weeks ago. The G45 I carry everywhere got submerged for a bit. I emptied the two mags after about 8 hours and took the pistol apart and blew it out with an air compressor. I haven't tested the ammo yet, it's in a glass bowl in the kitchen. I may do that this weekend.

About 30 years ago I flipped a canoe in the Ocmulgee and my Glock 22 got dunked. Got home and my buddy asked "aren't you gonna clean that thing and replace the ammo? It's not going to shoot now."

I pulled the pistol out of the Glock plastic holster it was in and popped off all 16 rounds, no problem.

Now we just need CMShoot to come in and tell us about the 9mm round he swallowed, later "caught", and shot. Apparently he won a bet.

Ah…….I was just coming here to reply! I made an easy $20 that day!
