About 2 weeks ago I lost a Glock 26 mag loaded with Speer Gold Dot on my property while working around the house. I live on 10 acres and throughout the day had traveled over about 3 acres of it. I didn’t notice the loss until the day was done and decided to take a Quick Look for it, no joy, so I just wrote it off.
10 days later my wife found it while walking the dogs. In the interim it had rained around here about every day, sometimes light, sometimes heavy. The mag was wet when she handed it over.
2 days later I took the ammo to work and fired it on the range. All 12 rounds (G26 mag with a +2 extender) fired no problem.
But wait it gets better. The ammo was prior issued ammo that is replaced on a 24 month cycle. So it was probably 3 to 3.5 years old, having spent the majority of that time exposed to the prevailing climate outside.
Not an endorsement of branded ammo, magazine type or any kind of torture testing….just thought I would pass on the interesting results.
