SOOO quick question everyone..
if i have a rifle i want to sell
and its a from factory upper
and from factory lower..
BUT i take the upper apart and add my own parts and take off factory parts and break the married barrelnut..
is it then still a factory upper?? and can i claim it to be
if factory didnt torque it to spec but i did.. does that make it ok and safe??

and btw.. im the buyer of said "factory" rifle
just wanted to make sure i wasnt crazy

Like others said, if you change out parts it's not factory.

If you change out parts you probably did it to be better than factory and most people will be okay with it. But it's not factory.

Chang anything factory and it's no longer factory. Funny thing is, pretty much anything you add to it (quality parts) will make it better than factory, but less valuable to some.

As far as torqued to spec, I sent time with the guys that build the rifles for the AMU Team a few years back. When I asked what specs they tighten the barrel nut at I got a chuckle and was told 'tight, and enough for the gas tube to fit. We don't shim for a specific torque spec.".
