You know, this crap about Godwin's law is getting old. Just because someone quantifies the comparison to Hitler does not mean that any comparison is invalid. If you are unwilling to learn from one of the most tragic episodes in human history then there is no way of preventing it from happening again. The fact is that disarming the populace is one of the first things a future tyrant must do. The libs have been focused on disarming America for a long time and it is a serious threat to our freedom. Noting that Hitler also did this shortly before going on one of the most insane killing sprees known to man is perfectly valid. If you think a comparison is invalid then explain why, don't just quote some silly "Law" that someone made up.
 
You may be suprised that so few soldiers/cops said "no" but it is human nature:

As a cop or soldier in that situation you are part of the "us/we" who are given orders to do do illegal/wrong things to the "them".

To take a stand against the order you would be leaving the "us" and becoming part of the "them". That is hard for most people to do. If following on to GDAWG's second post - look what happened in Germany in the run up to WWII and following; Germany was not a nation full of uneducated barbarians and yet in order to remain part of the "we", people butchered their fellow citizens who were deemed "them" by the government.
 
The few guys who refused were probably slapped upside the head with the UCMJ, and either booted out, or denied reinlistment.

The Navy has "The Maritime Prepositioned Ships Program." It consists of civilian operated ships carrying everything from medical gear to tanks to helicopters. That way, gear is always near where it is needed. Think about it. Easier to get from A to B with all your supplies, if your supplies are already where they need to be at B.

It will happen slow enough, town by town that there will no uprising against it. History people, history. Look to history for all of the answers.

If this were to happen in a few country town at once it would be a different story. Start in a town that has a liberal population or has other major problems distracting them.

It took Pearl Harbor for the U.S. to totally wake up and decide to fight one of the world's worst tyrants. What do you think it will take for American to wake up and fight (vote out) our own government?
 
I guess it comes down to what you think reasonable regulation is. Such as in New York's response to the Heller decision on DC.

Mayor of New York City Michael Bloomberg said that "all of the laws on the books in New York State and New York City" would be allowed by the ruling as "reasonable regulation." Robert Levy has stated that the current New York City gun laws are "not much different" from the D.C. ban that has been overturned. The National Rifle Association and other gun-rights advocates have not ruled out suing New York City, especially over the definition of "reasonable regulation".

The New York Sullivan act 1911 (NYC) did not ban handguns but rather "regulated" them and became a "may issue" area for attempting to purchase a handgun for the home. However, were regular honest citizens able to obtain handgun permits for their home? No, so the permit was nothing more than a ban for average honest citizens-the peasants.

The odd thing is that those who say it "can't happen" is ironically it has and the leadership there wants the rest of the country to follow their failed lead. Great strides have been made in restoring rights back to the people in Chicago, New York and our fine nation in Washington D.C.

The rabid anti-gun groups are pooping chickens and are trying everything they can (insult, lie, and fund) to regain lost ground and then some.

My wife is from South Korea and she has some decent (funny) sayings that the folks there say. She says even a mouse will attack if it's in a corner and the anti-gun machine has been continuously losing ground the past few years on right carry, right to keep and bear arms (really?) and the disbanding of former "gun free zones" like parks etc. There is more work and we must work as a team and not insult each other as it serves no purpose and is exactly what the folks like MAIG. Brady, VPC and the gullible politicians want. In fact it's part of their tactics along with their lies.

Knowing the avenue of approach will benefit us all and retain our rights.

The Russian citizen has more rights than the US citizen does now. Everyday we move closer to a dictatorship. The gov acts without seeing what the American wants. They do polls based in urban areas filled with liberals and illegal aliens and publize the results like rural America were the ones being polled about "guns and violence". Ask any highschool kid today about guns and most will tell you they're wrong and should be outlawed.

Polls are conducted in order to obtain a representative sample but have potential for inaccuracy and those studied in its use are aware of this. This can be used to support an agenda. The wording, where the sample is taken and poll bias all play a part. A person of low integrity could manipulate the parameters in order to reflect an opinion then use that poll data in an unethical, unprofessional manor.

I especially like the subjective MAIG poll that says gun ownership is down due to a poll they paid for. This is despite objective record numbers of all time record numbers of permits and industry gun production numbers that have failed to keep up with demand at times. Ring, ring, ring, (them)-hello, yes we're from the research center and want to know if you have guns in your house.....citizen-click, (them)-ok so no guns here, next. Ring, ring, ring.... (Them)-Yes we're from the research center, do you have guns in your house (citizen)-nope had a tragic boat accident and lost them all. (Them)-ok, next.

If you're OK comparing the Democratic Party to the Third Reich, that's on you. Obama isn't Hitler and this isn't 1940's Germany. If you need anymore explanation or enlightenment than that, you're beyond my meager abilities.
