what makes you say its a colt? colt 601's were select fire and marked colt patent firearm division, I d o not see that on your rifle

It’s a model 601 only info I can find on it is that it’s a military training rifle from the 70’s

for sure the upper is playing the part of a 601, markings are ‘C H’. (Colt Harvey machine) I could even believe the tear drop FA if it was a late 601, but the lower would absolutely be marked Colt, would not be marked 601, rather most likely Mod 01, and caliber would be 223, not 5.56. Barrel should be marked ‘C’ and either 1:12 or 1:14. My educated guess is it’s probably a early nodak/brownells retro lower,
