No they are both in like new condition. Lived on a DD SLW that was kept in the safe, only saw a few hundred rounds while mounted. I just took them off to throw a 3-9x on.

I don’t specifically know about changing the battery, I highly doubt you have to take it off the rifle but that should be pretty easy to find online if you can find a PDF of the manual or a video on YouTube.

Replacing the battery on the AEMS is on the side. So no, you do not have to remove it.
