Here's the story on the upper and why you don't see them anywhere...

It’s a Mod 1 MRP. Never officially adopted. LMT was doing a bunch for KAC at the time so the over all rail specs were the same as far as the threaded rail holes and the spacing. A KAC mod 1 rail is just a normal full length rail less the picatinny center sections to reduce weight. LMT wanted to cut weight on the MRP so the plan was to remove the extra picatinny railed area and the by product was that the KAC Mod 1 rail panels would automatically fit. Due to the extreme similarities between that and the KAC mod 1 at the time it was decided to not go that route and hence the LM8 was developed instead. It’s an old upper. The patents were still pending at the time if you look at the engraving on the upper.
