How do you know how old they are I bought mine used in 96 so it has to be at least that old

There is a guide out there somewhere. Rule of thumb on the 336/444/1894/1895 made after about 1965 is the first 2 digits subtracted from 100 give you the 2 digit year. Serial 93xxxxx is a 2007 build. Serial 24xxxxx is a 1976, etc.

Starting in the 40s (1946 I think) to the early 60s the serial will start with a letter that corresponds to the year.
