It's just the rimfires that are cancelled. You can still get the M77 in centerfire calibers.

They have temporarily discontinued production of all M77 rifles with no indication of when they will start production again. My gut tells me the much less expensive Ruger American Rifle he's going to replace it.

Read that closer. You'll see they are only cancelling 77/22, 77/17, 77/44, and 77/357

They continued production of the aforementioned calibers. The current Ruger website does not even list Centerfire except for 357 and 44 Magnum.
But your point of an opportunity to buy a classic rifle is spot-on. This is a beauty one that everybody would love to have in their collection.
