Ballistically it's a 375 H&H "Light". Not legal for dangerous game in some African countries, Legal in others. Not a contender with the big belted magnums, nor is it a speed demon, but it will get the job done. Not designed for the heavy for caliber like a 375 H&H 350 Grainers. Ammo is still available world wide, very popular caliber in Europe and it work wonders on anything walking the four corners of the Western hemisphere.
Great price for this package especially when you get the box and rings.
GLWS, someone is going to get a nice rifle.

It's a bit of a boutique cartridge in the United States, but it's still available. It's usually cheaper but the pandemic and priority of other cartridges have kept prices higher than normal.

I really like it's modern rimless cousin the 9.3x62, it's slightly more powerful than the 35 Whelen.

Is the 9.3x62 the same?

It's a rimless/shorter version so it can be used in bolt actions unlike this rimmed version.

35caliber.com also know as JES Reboring can convert a 30/06 and other similar cartridges like it into the 9.3x62.

If you like hunting with a cartridge that hits hard and has an interesting history then it's a good gun to have it in. Will hold it's value too, given it's a Ruger #1.

Try Google, the history is interesting.
