Item Description: I am selling my 1998 BMW 740 IL that I brought from another member here several years ago. It does run and drive well but does need some work. It does have good Michelin tires on it.

It has 175k miles on it.

Things I know that are wrong

1. The driver's window is the only one that works. The others are up and do not leak but they do make an awful noise when you hit the window switch.

2. The exhaust needs to be repaired. Currently it is running open headers and sounds great to me but my wife isn't a fan of the noise.

3. The battery is completely dead and will not take a charge. The car will run and drive once jump started so the alternator is good but it will need a battery.

4. The carpet is pretty dirty. The pictures don't really reflect the true condition.

5. The headliner is dropping in the rear.

6. The ABS light is on. It does stop very well and very straight but I'm guessing a sensor has gone out.

I hate when people don't list the mileage... I will update the ad to reflect 175k.
No sweat. I will likely not be the buyer anyway.
I'm closing on my house and another house in the next couple weeks and I just had my 4th baby.
However, I have wanted one off and on for a while now. I'm trying to remember, the 98 up and 97 down was a mid model update. I want to say the 98 up had an advantage, but, I don't remember what it is.
The body looks straight.
The price seems reasonable too for a driver.

I completely understand the financial stress that closing on a house involves. I'm happy to take full or partial firearm trades.

I shouldn't say this since I'm selling but they are great cars until they are not.

In my mind this is the last of the great 7 Series BMWs but this type of car needs to go to someone who understands what they're getting and what kind of care and feeding they take.
I agree. These are much better than their newer models. If you know how to maintain it.
