By what I can tell, looks like quarter of an inch of the barrel has been cut off the muzzle of the rifle. There should be more barrel extending past the front sight base. Could you post a pic of the crown/ muzzle too?

I have a bad experience with this being done. I purchased a swedish mauser barrel I used to build an 1896 long rifle and this was done. Went to mount a bayonet and the muzzle ring had nothing to lock over. I was pissed.

^I agree with what Linachaw says. It appears that both the stock and unfortunately the barrel have been cut down a bit. If it was just the stock, I'd definitely take it, since I can replace that rather easily. With the barrel also being cut down, unfortunately I don't think I'd want it. It's definitely priced to sell, however, so someone who is less picky about the collecting aspect than I am would be picking up a winner. Best of luck and thank you!
