Item Description: The Colt Army Model 1860 - It was used as a side arm by Confederate and Union forces in the cavalry, infantry, artillery troops, and navy. This Colt was reputed to be used by the Confederacy and has military proof marks. The barrel has a period, non-Colt repair, adding to it's Confederate legacy. The brass was silver plated and the plating is still present, (silver plating is unusual for military firearms), most of the rest of the finish is a grey/black patina. This Colt is the 4 screw model that was designed for a shoulder stock, though few shoulder stocks were issued. According to Colt records the serial number (9436) makes it of 1861 manufacture. It appears to be in good mechanical order but I have not fired it.
