This is a custom Colt 1917 with several good points and several bad points. The gun is a Colt 1917, marked U.S. Army Model 1917, has the lanyard ring, original grips, Military NUMBER 62. Serial number 1509xx made in 1918. The weapon is chambered in 45 acp and uses half/full moon clips. The things that are bad (custom) are it had had adjustable sights put on the weapon. Now whomever did it did an unbelievable job but I have NEVER found when Colt ever did this. It has been reblued and the nice original grips have been refinished to shiny. The front sight has been changed to match the higher micro adjustable rear sight. The sight looks like a Colt adjustable sight from the 50's/60's. The weapon looks great, locks tight and shoots better than I do and I am 40 years younger. The serial number is "cool" to me. Price is $600.00 will listen to trades but do not expect much as I am trying to cut the size of the pile for a future move.

The Colt factory serial is the number on the frame as you swing out the cylinder. #s on the butt are the Army #. I see a lot of these on gunbroker with under 100 range on the butts. The one on the crane should show up if you run it on colts website.
