Remington I picked up years ago intending on moving it back to its original configuration. Model 1917. Johnson Automatics Barrel would indicate it passed through an arsenal at some point in its life, probably for ww2 but I wouldnt be able to verify that based on the lack of marking anywhere on the stock. A more adept individual might be able to chime in. Barrel rifling looks strong, and it retains its finish, as well as the original front and rear sight and no drilling or other modification to speak of on the important parts. Will need a stock/bands/buttplate so its priced to factor in those items if someone wants a project. Or just buy it and have a cooler bolt action gun than anything youll order with a credit card in the same price range. By the looks of it, it was sporterized long ago when they were five dollars at winn dixie.
